Limited Scope Expert Review

Expert Limited Scope

The child forensic interview review service includes independent review and critique of child forensic interviews available through video, audio, transcripts, and supporting documentation.

How We Approach Our Expert Limited Scope Services

Limited Scope Expert Review is designed for attorneys and parties who require focused professional analysis of a specific component of a case. Rather than conducting a broader consultation, the review concentrates on selected interviews, records, reports, or investigative practices that may have a direct bearing on the matter.

Dean Tong reviews and critiques child forensic interviews presented through video, audio, transcripts, and related materials. The review may examine the interview structure, questioning methods, developmental considerations, objectivity, and other factors relevant to accepted forensic interviewing practices.

Written reports created by Child Advocacy Center personnel may also be evaluated in connection with the underlying interview and investigation. Following the review, an independent written report addresses relevant methodology, investigative practices, objectivity, and identified areas of concern.

Academic Credentials

Dean Tong holds a combined Master of Science degree in Psychology and the Law in Child Forensic Studies from the Universities of Portsmouth and Leeds in the United Kingdom.

His academic work included participation in the University of Portsmouth MSc program under the direction of Dr. Ray Bull and completion of a Postgraduate Diploma and approved dissertation. This background supports the analytical approach required when reviewing forensic interviews, investigative practices, and allegations involving children.

National Certification & Experience

Dean Tong is a nationally certified lifetime registered child forensic interviewer and a subject matter expert in cases involving unfounded and false allegations of child abuse.

His professional caseload focuses on high-conflict matters, including cases connected with prolonged custody disputes. His work also extends to criminal matters nationwide, including proceedings in criminal and juvenile courts.

When Expert Assistance Matters

Expert review may become important when a case involves allegations such as child sexual assault, child abuse, incest, aggravated child physical abuse, domestic violence, or related accusations and the evidence includes forensic interviews or investigative findings requiring specialized examination.

It may also be relevant when CPS involvement could affect parental rights, child placement, juvenile proceedings, or family court litigation. A focused review can help identify whether interviews and investigations followed appropriate methodology and whether significant areas warrant further examination.

Why Attorneys Need Experts

Attorneys are responsible for analyzing and presenting the law, but highly specialized evidentiary issues may require expertise outside traditional legal practice.

Cases involving CPS intake workers, protective investigators, child forensic interviewers, detectives, medical professionals, therapists, and other professionals can involve technical questions concerning methodology, interview quality, investigative objectivity, and interpretation of information.

Contact Expert DeanTong to discuss the available case materials and determine whether a Limited Scope Expert Review is appropriate. A focused professional cost-effective forensic consultation can help counsel identify significant issues in interviewing, methodology, and investigation before critical litigation decisions are made.
